Heckle and Jeckle, the world's most famous talking Magpies, go on a moose-hunting trip. In order to get close enough to a moose to shoot him, they combine themselves into a female(?) moose costume. But the disguise is too effective, the moose is soon in love, and it appears a union that will produce the worlds first Moosepie animal is in the offing.

Heckle and Jeckle are postwar animated cartoon characters created by Paul Terry, originally produced at his own Terrytoons animation studio and released through 20th Century Fox. The characters are a pair of identical anthropomorphic yellow-billed magpies; they were voiced at different times by Sid Raymond (1946–47), Ned Sparks (1947–51), Roy Halee (1951–61), Dayton Allen (1956–66) and Frank Welker (1979).
The Talking Magpies, released January 4, 1946, was the first Terrytoons cartoon to feature a pair of wisecracking magpies. This was a husband-and-wife pair, not the pair of identical birds that they would become. Terry was taken with the idea of a pair of identical characters, and followed up with The Uninvited Pests (Nov 29, 1946), which established the pair as new characters. Terrytoons made 52 Heckle and Jeckle theatrical cartoons between 1946 and 1966.

This H&J cartoon probably has the best color of the lot of these that I bought earlier this year. The color was enhanced. They are a lot of fun. I love that they know that they are cartoon characters and can basically do anything they want to. Enjoy!

Farmer Al Falfa and his dog try to have a private picnic, but Heckle & Jeckle decide to freeload. The usual hijinks ensue as the farmer and his dog try to get rid of the magpies. Eventually, the farmer gives them a stick of dynamite disguised as a hot dog. As they try to roast it, the farmer drives away in his car to avoid the explosion, but Heckle & Jeckle throw the dynamite into their car.

The magpies move into a nest in a tree right outside an old man's bedroom window. Chaos ensues as the magpies and the old man each try to best each other, the old man trying to get the magpies to be quiet, and the two of them being anything BUT quiet. #cartoon #art #animation #drawing #shorts

I've always loved H&J but this is not one of my favorite cartoons. I had another reason to scan it though. This was the result of an experiment with a new part on my scanner. The results were excellent with a much more stable picture. I color corrected it as well as possible.
