هل فكرت يوما فيما سيحدث لـ "الانسجام المثالي" لنظامك الشمسي في حال فقد أحد كواكبه؟ على سبيل المثال، أقرب كوكب إلى الشمس هو عطارد، صحيح؟ أوه، إنه صغير للغاية! بعد اختفاء عطارد، كيف تبدو الأرض؟ همممم، لا توجد تغيراتٌ في النظام الشمسي. فالأمر كله يتعلق بالجاذبية.
كل جسم يحتوي على كتلة تستقطب أجساماً أخرى بسبب قوة جاذبيتها. وكلما كانت الكتلة أكبر، زادت قوة الجاذبية. عطارد أصغر كوكب في النظام الشمسي، لذا فإنه ليس كبيراً للغاية من ناحية المساحة. لكن، ماذا عن الكواكب الأخرى؟

الملخص:
- عطارد أصغر كوكب في النظام الشمسي، لذا فإنه ليس كبيراً للغاية من ناحية المساحة.
- على مسافة تبعد 80 مليون كم، لا شك أن عطارد بعيدٌ جداً عن الأرض، لذلك فإن الجاذبية بين الكوكبين ليست بتلك القوة.
- الزُهرة أشد الكواكب حرارةً في نظامك الشمسي. يعادل اليومُ الواحدُ هنا 117 يوماً أرضياً تقريباً.
- يوجد حزام كويكبات ضخم بين المريخ والمشتري. وكما تعلم، فإن الكويكبات ليست جيدة للأرض.
- يقوم المشتري بالحفاظ عليها معاً بفضل جاذبيته القوية. لكن من وقت لآخر، تتحرر وتبدأ في التحرك باتجاه الشمس.
- يمتلك المريخ جاذبية قوية ويعمل نوعاً ما كمقلاع يقوم بتسريع الكويكبات ناحية الأرض.
- يزيد وزن المشتري بـ 3 أضعاف عن جميع الكواكب المجاورة له مجتمعة!
- بفضل قوة جاذبيته الهائلة، كان المشتري يحمي الأرض من الكويكبات والحطام الفضائي على مدى الـ 4 مليارات سنة الماضية!
- ترسل جاذبية الشمس كل هذه الأجسام تجاه الكواكب الداخلية، بما في ذلك الأرض! ستحدث أيضاً بعضُ التغيرات الطفيفة في مدارات الكواكب الأخرى، لكن لن تظهر إلّا بعد آلاف السنين.
- حان دور زحل. لا يمكنك أن تخطئ هذا الكوكب مع أي كوكب آخر بفضل حلقاته المذهلة! يقول العلماء إنها ستختفي في يوم من الأيام لأن جاذبية زحل الهائلة تسحبها للأسفل في أمطار جليدية.
- أورانوس ضخم أيضاً، وهو ثالث أكبر كوكب في المجموعة الشمسية.
- بدون قوة جاذبية نبتون التي تُبقي الأجسام مستقرة، فإن المدارات تتقاطع والأجرام السماوية تصطدم ببعض!
- ماذا عن القمر؟ يا إلهي! ما الذي حدث لمحور الأرض؟ إنه مائل جداً، أكثر مما كان عليه في السابق! كما أن الطقس أصبح يتصرف بجنون شديد - لم تعد هناك مواسم على الإطلاق، والعصور الجليدية الجديدة قادمة!
- مدة اليوم الآن 6 إلى 12 ساعة فقط لأنه لم يعد هناك جاذبية من القمر لإبطاء دوران الأرض. لن يحدث أي خسوف للقمر أو كسوف للشمس.
- يبدو أنه من بين جميع الكواكب في نظامك الشمسي المعقد، فإن اختفاء المشتري فقط سيسبب مشكلة كبيرة للأرض. لذا، أعتقد أن المقولة المعروفة صحيحة: النظام الشمسي عبارة عن توازن دقيق ومنسجم!
