The Ugly Duckling is an animated film by Walt Disney based on the fairy tale "The Ugly Duckling" by Hans Christian Andersen. Walt Disney actually produced two Silly Symphonies animated shorts based on the fairy tale, one in 1931 in black and white, and one in 1939 in Technicolor. The 1939 color film won the 1939 Academy Award for Best Short Subject (Cartoons). In this version, the baby swan's sufferings are shortened, as he is found by his family, after only a few minutes of rejection and ostracism, instead of a whole year. This abbreviated version is read by Lilo to Stitch in the 2002 Disney film Lilo & Stitch. The story has a deep impact on Stitch, who sets out to look for his real family.
The Ugly Duckling was Disney's last Silly Symphony.

الرحلات الجوية الطويلة المدى... كما تعلم، تلك المغامراتُ الماراثونية التي تطير بك حول منتصف العالم، والتي تصيبك بالملل والإرهاق الشديدين. لكن في الوقت الحالي، لم يعدِ السفرُ لمسافاتٍ طويلة كما كان في السابق! وقد تصبح تجربةُ الطيران لـ 20 ساعة متتالية أكثر متعة مما توقعت!
لنفترض أنك تريدُ السفرَ من سنغافورة إلى نيويورك، ويستغرق ذلك في العادة 19 ساعة تقريباً. على الأرجح أنك ستسافر لمسافة 16,000 كم تقريباً على متن طائرة مصممة خصيصاً للتحليق على مسارات طويلة للغاية. يمتلك المسافرون مساحةً أكبر بين مساند الذراعين، ومساحة أكبر للساقين. بالإضافة إلى ذلك، فإن تدوير الهواء والإضاءة في المقصورة معدَّلةٌ بطريقة يُفترض بها مساعدةُ الركاب على التعامل مع إرهاق السفر بسهولة أكبر!

- نظام إضاءة LED يسهّل عليك التكيف من ضوء النهار إلى الظلام في الليل، والهواء يدور حول المقصورة كل دقيقتين.
- الرحلاتُ الطويلة تكون في العادة مريحةً أكثر من الرحلات القصيرة، مع كل تلك المقاعد الكبيرة والمساحة الأكبر. ولا يهم إن كنت تسافر على الدرجة السياحية أو الأولى.
- تقدم جميع الرحلات الطويلة تقريباً نظامَ ترفيه رائع. لذلك، يمكنك قضاءُ وقتك في مشاهدة الأفلام، أو الاستماع إلى الموسيقى، أو لعب الألعاب.

- إن كنت تعلم أنك ستحتاج إلى الذهاب إلى الحمام كثيراً أو تشعر بالحاجة إلى تمديد ساقيك، فاختر مقعداً بجوار الممر. وإلّا فسوف تضطر إلى تسلق جيرانك النائمين.
- تذكر أن تسألَ طاقمَ المقصورةِ الأسئلةَ الصحيحة. ويجب أن يكون السؤالُ الأول: "هل الطائرة ممتلئة؟" لأنه إن لم تكن كذلك، فيمكنك الحصولُ على مقعد آخر أكثر راحة.
- في أي رحلة جوية، يفضل ارتداء ملابس مريحة. لكن في الرحلات الطويلة، يصبح ذلك في غاية الأهمية.
- من الأفضل لك ملء قارورة ماء في المطار قبل الإقلاع، وشرب ماء باستمرار أثناء الرحلة.
- حاول أن تنام قدر ما تستطيع في الرحلة الطويلة المدى. سيساعدك ذلك في الوصول إلى وجهتك في حالة نشطة نوعاً ما دون أن تبدو كزومبي.
- على الأرجح أنك تعلم أنه يمكنك المطالبةُ بتعويضٍ في حال تأخر رحلتك، أو إلغاؤها، أو الحجز المفرط. لكن القليل يعرفون أنه كلما طالت الرحلة، زاد التعويض.
