In the forest, deep in the wood,
down by the lake, hidden good,
a mommy duck laid her eggs,
with her white feathers and little orange legs!

She laid five eggs into her nest,
her children, they will be the best!
She kept them safe, she kept them warm,
through the winter and through the storm!

Then the ducklings finally came,
and her love burned like a flame,

All the ducklings, they were yellow,
except this one little fellow,
its feathers were black, fluffy and long,
and it seemed like it did not belong.

The ugly duckling tale,
and how it prevailed,
how it found a way,

Other ducklings leaughed and teased,
and our duckling was not pleased,
it was sad and cried all day,
and decided that it will not stay.

It went away, so far away,
through the forest long it strayed,
no more crying, no more grief,
I am beautiful, that's what I believe!

The duckling grew big and strong,
and found its place where it belongs,
because it wasn't an ugly duckling,
but a lovely swan all along!

The ugly duckling returned to its home,
to hug its mom and to tell her all,
to show them all how it's beautiful,
and now its quest has been done and full!
